Sikura launches its website to the public following a successful crowdfunding campaign

A successful crowdfunding campaign has led Sikura to launch its website to the public, keeping its promise of providing a platform that works to ensure that women feel safe when out alone.

The works on the Sikura brand were started by Nicole Borg following the murder of Paulina Dembska in January 2022. Following a local uproar where many women demanded action to be taken to ensure the safety of women, and educate men, Nicole started to research the market and see what solutions she could provide in order for women to feel safer when out alone.

Following bringing in the talented Siobhan Vassallo as Brand Creator & Curator, and a successful crowdfunding run that helped her raise €2,240 for her cause, Nicole started to work with Creative Marketing Agency The Concept Stadium in order to get the website ready for the launch.

All those visiting the website will be able to purchase the alarm band, a device worn like a watch that emits a 120db sound once activated, attracting the attention of passers-by and potentially deterring the aggressor. Additionally, Sikura is also offering monthly self-defence classes together with Malta Self-Defence Academy as well as talks and workshops that aim to help women build resilience and self-confidence, with the first one being held in November and led by social worker and psychotherapist Mel McElhatton.

“I’m truly delighted that we are finally sharing Sikura’s website with the world. A whole lot of hard work has been put into creating a welcoming platform that aims to truly support women in feeling safer and empowered. So far it has been a whirlwind of a ride that has brought about a lot of learning curves and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for Sikura in the coming months,” said Nicole Borg, Founder of Sikura.

The website couldn’t have been launched without the hard work and support of The Concept Stadium’s web team who through their expert advice worked to ensure that Sikura’s website is as user-friendly and efficient as can be.

“From the very start, we believed in Sikura’s aims and mission and we wanted to find a way to be able to support it. Coming onboard this project as Web Partners was a delightful experience as it allowed us to work on yet another brand that isn’t coming from the idea of doing business but of making our society better through the services and products it offers,” said Jonathan Dalli, CEO of The Concept Stadium.
